Only a day after the results of Anna Nicole Smith's autopsy were announced, the inquest into the death of her son, Daniel Smith, has begun in the Bahamas.
According to "Entertainment Tonight", a lawyer for Smith's companion, Howard K. Stern, was expected to ask for a delay because he is currently working on a murder case.
Smith's ex-boyfriend, Larry Birkhead, and her mother, Virgie Arthur, were seen walking into the courthouse this morning for the proceeding which began at 10 a.m.
"I'm just here to do what's right, to help Daniel ... I'm here to give the truth," Birkhead told "ET" as he arrived to court..
Today's proceedings, if they go forward, will include questioning of the police photographer and someone from Doctor's Hospital, where Daniel was found dead in his mother's hospital room.
Daniel Smith died Sept. 10 while visiting his mother three days after the birth of her daughter, Dannielynn. A pathologist hired by the family concluded he died from a combination of Lexapro, Zoloft and methadone.
