Mariah Carey is pregnant, celebrity gossip website Radar Online reports.
The 40-year-old pop diva sparked baby rumours recently when she dropped out of her next film role in For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf.
The website claimed a source close to Mariah and her husband Nick Cannon told them the happy news, "They’re both very excited and very happy," claimed the source.
Mariah’s longtime representative Cindi Berger did not deny the pregnancy in a cryptic statement: "I’m not at liberty to discuss Mariah’s personal life at this time."
Radar Online’s source said the star and her husband of two years wanted to keep the news quiet for as long as possible.
But since the rumours surfaced Carey’s husband Nick Cannon spoke out with an ambiguous rant on his Twitter account, People magazine reported.
"If & when my wife is ready to make ANY announcements about private matters she will do it personally," he Tweeted on Wednesday.
"Thanks for being respectful. God Bless."
Cannon said he also sympathized with other female celebrities who are constantly followed by the media and public.
“My heart goes out to any woman who has to deal with public scrutiny and speculation pertaining to their private life REAL TALK!," he said on Twitter.
Cannon has previously spoken about wanting to start a family with his wife of two years.
"We're going to do it," he said in March 2009.
While Cannon would not say whether his wife was pregnant, he last week revealed another family member was expecting -- their Jack Russell terrier, Cha Cha.
Meanwhile, Khloe Kardashian is also reportedly pregnant.
The reality TV star, who married Los Angeles Lakers player Lamar Odom in September 2009 after just one month of dating, is said to be two months into her first pregnancy after being inspired to start a family by her sister Kourtney Kardashian, who has a five-month-old son Mason with boyfriend Scott Disick.
“Khloe was inspired by Kourtney having a baby. Lamar is happy and ecstatic about having a baby with Khloe,”
a source close to the Kardashian family revealed.
It is believed the 25-year-old socialite’s pregnancy will be formally announced on her show Keeping Up with the Kardashians, but according to the insider, the basketball player is concerned about his child’s life being played out on television.
“They’re really happy, but Lamar is a little weary of exposing his baby on TV. He already doesn’t like his life being played out for everyone to see eight months of the year," the source added to RadarOnline.
Khloe has previously spoken about her and Lamar’s plans to have children together, admitting in January that they had stopped using contraception.
"I'm not rushing it, but I'm also not doing anything to prevent it," she said.
"We both want to have children together and I think we're in an ideal situation. We're just happy together.
“Lamar wants to start having children tomorrow. He already has two beautiful children, Destiny and Lamar Jr., but he can't wait for me to have kids and form this new family.
"I know how happy he would be, and I'd love to have kids. But ideally I want to wait at least until we've settled into our new house.”
