In the near future, a computer hacker named Neo discovers that all life on Earth may be nothing more than an elaborate facade created by a malevolent cyber-intelligence, for the purpose of placating us while our life essence is "farmed" to fuel the Matrix's campaign of domination in the "real" world. He joins like-minded Rebel warriors Morpheus and Trinity in their struggle to overthrow the Matrix.
Keanu Reeves - NEO
Keanu, the main character, is a computer hacker in search of the answer to his question - "What is the Matrix?". However, when he gets his answer, he also finds out more than he expected. After being discovered by Morpheus, he is transported into the real world where he becomes 'The One' and receives powers beyond his belief!
Keanu is greatly known for his star role in "SPEED" along side Sandra Bullock. He has also featured in "MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING" with Emma Thompson, Denzel Washington, Micheal Keaton and Kenneth Branagh. His other films include "CHAIN REACTION", "JOHNNY MNEMONIC", "THE DEVIL'S ADVOCATE" and "BILL AND TED'S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE"
Carrie-Anne Moss - TRINITY
Carrie-Anne's role is the tough sidekick to NEO. She is the first character to be introduced to us. She does this by killing some interfering cops before making her getaway over buildings. (Very Cool!)
Moss's career started with modelling in countries such as Spain and Japan. She has also featured in "DUE SOUTH" where she was nominated for a Gemini Award for the Best Performance in a Guest Role in a Dramatic Series. Her previous films have included "SABOTAGE" and "THE SECRET LIFE OF ALGERNON".
Laurence Fishburne - MORPHEUS
Fishburne's role in The Matrix is the stern mentor to NEO. In the film, he wears an interesting pair of sunglasses, sunglasses without arms, specially designed for him. He is also the leader of the group who battle below the surface of the earth.
His most well known films include "APOCALYPSE NOW" (aged 14!), "EVENT HORIZON" and "WHAT'S LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT?" where he received an Academy Award Nomination for his portrayal of Ike Turner.
Hugo Weaving- AGENT SMITH
Agent Smith is the character with no emotions and an earpiece. His voice has one tone and his expressions never change. He describes Human Beings as a cancer of the planet, and that he is the cure.
Weaving is considered to be one of Australia's most acclaimed actors and has done extensive work in film, TV and theatre. His previous films include "Proof", where he won an Australian Film Institute Award for Best Actor; "The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert" where his received an AFI Award nomination; and "The Interview"
