Europe the 1370. William, Roland and Wats master, Sir Ector, found dead. As he should be jousting in a tournament where he is sure to win, and the trio haven't eaten in days. William Thatcher therefore pretends to be Sir Ector, takes place in the tournament and wins- giving him the idea that, with proper training, he could become a real knight

Along the way, he falls in love with a noble young lady, Jocelyn, and develops a rivalry with Count Adhemar of Anjou.
