AMAZON.COM REVIEWS FOR THE DELIVERY (1999): What an amazing collection of delicious foreign accents! Three friends (aDutch couple, Alfred and Anna, and their British chum, Guy) find themselvesin debt to a nasty loan shark named Spike and foolishly decide to get introuble with a nastier drug dealer to raise money. Spike insists that theytake a cargo of Xstacy from Amsterdam to Barcelona--but on the way, toprove they aren't getting into trouble, Alfred and Guy have to stop atpreassigned phone booths and check in; and if they don't, Anna (who'sbeing held hostage) will die. The Delivery wants to be apreposterous hybrid of Pulp Fiction and Run Lola Run, andcomes pretty close to succeeding. The plot is nonsense, but that's not thepoint--the point is wicked images like the scar down the face of Spike'sJapanese henchman or the Volkswagen Beetle that comes toppling off of abridge onto the road below; hilarious ideas like a terrorist organizationtrying to stop European unification; and off-kilter moments like when Guyand svelte blonde former terrorist Loulou flirt by arguing about thevirtues of different guns. The Delivery is loopy, almost campy, butheld together by some jagged, propulsive editing, a crackling electronicsoundtrack, and a very attractive cast of unknown Europeanactors. --Bret Fetzer
